Bangkok is one of the famous destinations for travelers from the Philippines as it’s only 3 1/2 hours from Manila and no visa is required for Philippine passport holders.

We left Manila at 10:30AM and arrived in Bangkok at 2:00PM local time (note that Manila time is 1 hour ahead of Bangkok). The airport is huge and it’s one of the major airport hubs in Asia.

Here are some interior shots of the airport.

Bangkok airport is notorious for overpriced taxi fares and scams so I decided to avail of our hotel’s pick-up services for THB1,200 0r around PHP1,600. A bit pricey, but better safe than sorry.

We stayed at Silq Hotel in Sukhumvit Rd. Very convenient as it’s only 5 minutes walk from both Asok BTS and MRT stations.

I was surprised to find this at the counter.

Check-in was fast and we were in our room in less than 10 minutes.

First activity is to watch Siam Niramit. We went to Thailand Cultural Center MRT station where there is a free shuttle service going to the theater. Pick-up is from 6:00PM to 7:45PM at 15 minutes interval. They will also drop you off at the station after the show. We were early so we decided to explore the area near the station.

Finally the shuttle arrived at exactly 6:00PM. The Siam Niramit complex is just a few minutes drive. Much like Manila there was a bit of traffic and we arrived at around 6:30PM. The complex has a replica of a Thai Village that you can explore before the show, there were elephants you can ride around the complex (for a fee) and there are cultural dance performances you can watch for free.

Photos of inside the Thai Village.

Activities before the main show

Siam Niramit show started at exactly 8:00PM. It was spectacular! I highly recommend that you watch it. They have numerous awards including one from Guinness World Record. Cameras are not allowed inside the theater, you have to leave your bags at the counter and they will give you a number.

These were my only souvenirs from the show.
